ANA RIBAS, PH.D.
Dr Ana Ribas is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California who maintains a private practice in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
Dr Ribas is currently a psychologist and clinical supervisor at the OCD Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program at the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, where she provides individual and group therapy, as well as training in the delivery of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She is also and a member of the International OCD Foundation. Dr Ribas previously served as a staff psychologist at the UCLA Counseling and Psychological services for eight years as a therapist, outreach coordinator, and clinical supervisor, working with a wide range of clinical issues, and where she was distinguished with a staff achievement award.
Dr Ribas completed her predoctoral APA Accredited internship at Didi Hirsh Community Mental Health Center in Los Angeles, and her postdoctoral fellowship at the USC department of Psychology, and served as a clinical supervisor at the USC Psychology Services Center. She was invited by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology boards (ASPPB) to be a question-writer for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP).
Dr Ribas has extensive clinical experience with a wide range of clinical issues and interventions. She has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Self-Compassion (MBSC), as well as in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
Dr Ribas holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and a professional degree in Psychology from the University of Porto, Portugal. As a multilingual clinician, she is able to provide therapy and trainings in Spanish and Portuguese. She is a licensed psychologist in Portugal where she practiced for seven years in private practice, community and rehabilitation settings, including participating in international rehabilitation projects.
After completion of her Psychology professional degree in Portugal, Dr Ribas was invited to be a clinical supervisor at the Department of Psychology of the University of Porto, where she provided training for psychologists for 3 years. In 2001, she was awarded a doctoral fellowship from the Portuguese Science Foundation to complete her PhD in the US in Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology. Dr Ribas has been an invited professor in graduate programs in Portugal focused on assessment and treatment of chronic pain, as well as in other rehabilitation issues.
Dr Ribas is an experienced and integrative psychologist committed to providing empathic, high quality, culturally competent therapy services to a diverse adult population. She believes her strengths as a therapist are her ability to be attuned with her clients with warmth and authenticity, her flexibility and clinical judgment. Her therapy approach is informed by evidence-based treatments and draws on research findings and best practices in her profession.
